The Camp Fire

The Camp Fire of November 8, 2018, is the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California history. It is the sixth-deadliest U.S. wildfire of all time, the world’s costliest natural disaster in 2018. The destruction the Camp Fire caused to Butte County, California—most notably Paradise, Magalia and Concow—cannot be understated:

  • $16.5 billion in damage (of which only $12.5 billion was insured)
  • Over 153,000 acres were burned, including over 50,000 family homes
  • 18,804 buildings were destroyed
  • 86 people died

That morning I kicked in doors, threw people in my truck and drove through a fence to save them. I have countless stories to tell. My life is devoted to saving and fixing.
